After many years of ignoring my desire to be in the counseling field, I am humbled and excited to finally enter into the profession where I can make a small contribution towards a clients journey as they pursue healing, understanding, and self-discovery. Life can certainly have many challenges and these circumstances may cause stress, anxiety, fear, pain, grief, discomfort, …etc. Asking for help in these difficult times requires a lot of courage due to the risks of being vulnerable and I am honored to join you in your journey. Thus far as a counseling intern, I have experience working with single parent families and their children who are homeless or vulnerable to becoming homeless navigate many mental and behavioral challenges from being unhoused, having witnessed or experienced domestic violence, and substance abuse.
My goal as your counselor is to help you feel empowered and equipped with the necessary skills to live a life where you are not consumed by past thoughts, actions, or feelings. I want you to feel supported as we work together to find effective treatment methods to improve your overall mental, emotional, and physical health. My hope is to create a non-judgmental environment where you feel safe to explore and work through the challenges life inevitably produces. I utilize evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, attachment-based theory, and family systems to meet the individual needs of my clients. I take a collaborative approach in my work with clients to develop a treatment plan that will position clients to achieve their therapeutic goals.
