I believe that it is important to make openness, respect, and curiosity the most important parts of my work as a counselor. My 22 years of experience with children, teens, young adults, individuals, families and couples, comes from a variety of settings including Navigate Family Therapy, Samaritan Center of Puget Sound, Youth Eastside Services, schools, YMCA, camps, Young Life, and churches.
I have both a Master of Science Degree in Marital and Family Therapy and a Master of Education: School Counseling from Seattle Pacific University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, an AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) Clinical Member and Supervisor Candidate, WA and AZ Approved Supervisor, and a member of the AZEFT (Arizona Interest Network for AAMFT). These organizations hold the highest standards for relationship therapy. In addition, I am a member of ICEFT (The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy).
In addition to broad clinical training, I have specialized training and experience in child and adolescent therapy and couple and family therapy. I have a special place in my heart for working with children, teens, and young adults. I also specialize in premarital relationships and improvements in relationships.I am a facilitator for Prepare/Enrich, a relationship assessment tool for couples and have also taught several marriage preparation classes. I work with individuals, couples, children, adolescents, families, and groups dealing with life and developmental transitions, adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, personal growth, ADHD, Autism, OCD, school problems, and relationship problems. I regularly attend continuing education and consultations to grow as a therapist and supervise other therapists.
I have also taught and supervised school counselors and counselors in training at Seattle Pacific University and Seattle University. Currently, I offer individual and group supervision for counselors in their internship training experience. I have volunteered numerous times at Camp Erin and Camp Mariposa to help children in distress to support their grief and loss and family members with alcohol and substance abuse. In therapy with me, you will find a strengths-based client centered approach. I feel honored to encourage clients through painful and challenging situations in life. I am licensed in both WA and AZ and am able to see clients in both states.
Personally, I have been married for 19 years to my husband and have a tween, teen, and a pug. I am a Seattle native and moved to Phoenix 2 years ago. I am an avid learner and love reading! I enjoy going to the gym for group exercise classes, going to Christian concerts, and being outside hiking, biking, or walking with my family and friends.
