Jeanette Thorson, MA, LMFTA

I enjoy working with adults and couples at various stages of their lives. My primary goal is helping people recognize their strengths and needs in order to solve problems and build stronger relationships. My approach is supportive and client-centered with an emphasis on the role that emotions, beliefs, and narratives play in shaping identity and behavior. Drawing from evidence-based research and clinically reputable resources, I use an integrated approach to counseling but my primary foundation is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Additionally, I embrace a family systems perspective which means that I recognize the impact that significant relationships have on people’s thoughts, feelings, and actions.

My professional affiliations include International Centre for Excellence In Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (WAMFT). I am also a certified SYMBIS pre-marriage facilitator. I earned a Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy from Seattle University. Before becoming a therapist, I focused my professional energy on business and marketing, and my personal energy on building strong relationships and raising a family.
