I believe therapy is a sacred place where we explore the tension between acceptance and change. Using a family systems approach, I work with adult individuals and couples struggling with a variety of concerns, including relationship issues, marriage struggles, substance use or addiction, sexuality and sexual health, and those who have a partner or family member with mental health concerns or substance use. I also provide care for individuals and couples grappling with the effects of infertility, perinatal mental health concerns like postpartum depression, and the transition to parenthood.
Feeling disconnected? Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) can help you and your partner reconnect, rebuild your bond, and deepen your relationship. Some couples and individuals may benefit from my additional sex therapy training to address affair recovery, mismatched desire, sexual dysfunction, out of control sexual behavior, and sexual shame. I work from a strengths-based perspective, combining evidence-based theories to help clients get ‘unstuck,’ turn towards one another for connection, and live into their values.
My previous professional experience ranges from providing intensive family therapy in a residential substance use treatment facility to providing brief, on-call solution-focused therapy in a primary care doctor’s office. I hold a Masters of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and a post-grad certificate in Medical Family Therapy. Prior to that, I worked in international development and non-profit management and earned my BA in Human Services from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
A southern transplant to the PNW, I’ve been described as a quick-study, am committed to furthering equity in our world, and like to bring humor into the therapy room. I am LGBTQ* affirming. In my personal time, I enjoy being by the water with my husband and son.
