Coaching

What is the difference between coaching and therapy with Heather Sund?

Coaching:

  • Focus: Growth and performance
  • Purpose: Coaching helps people clarify goals, take action, and move toward a desired future.
  • Approach: Strength-based, focusing on the present and future rather than the past. Emphasizes accountability, strategy, and skill-building. There is no diagnosis or treatment of mental health disorders. Someone works with a coach to improve life skills, such as growing in their leadership skills, strengthening communication in their marriage, or align their life with their values.

Therapy:

  • Focus: Diagnosing and healing mental health disorders.
  • Purpose: Therapy helps people understand and heal from emotional pain, trauma, or mental health struggles.
  • Approach: Looks at the past and present to uncover patterns and root causes. Works to relieve distress, improve coping, and foster emotional growth. Involves diagnosing and treating mental health conditions (such as anxiety, depression, trauma, etc.).  that is impacting daily life.

Premarital Preparation and Wedding Officiating

Develop a solid foundation for lifelong love. For couples preparing for marriage, Heather Sund offers a signature experience of discernment, learning, and bonding. Included are in-depth relationship and personality assessments, communication skills, conflict resolution, finances, families of origin, sex and intimacy, forgiveness and true reconciliation, lifestyle and personality differences, “roommate issues”, and many more foundational topics personalized to the couple to build a great marriage. You will have significant conversations that draw you close and give you the tools you need to make your marriage last. Intensive (a.k.a. mini retreat-style focused sessions)

For couples, families, or business colleagues, Heather Sund provides full-day or half-day intensive sessions as a viable alternative to weekly therapy when desiring faster results and more efficient progress. Three full-day intensives can equate to 6 months of weekly therapy. A minimum of 3 half-day sessions is recommended to experience change. Intensives can be held online or at a private location of your choosing in the greater Seattle area. Heather Sund is sometimes able to travel out of the area for half or full-day sessions for additional travel fees.

Why Intensives?

We believe meaningful change doesn’t have to take months. Our therapy intensives offer deep, focused support to help you reconnect, grow, and move forward fast. Intensives are designed to help people get better results in less time

Why intensive rather than regular therapy?

Go further, faster. More effective and efficient than a regular therapy session. Increased time together allows for more depth and discovery to unfold without time restraint. Three full-day intensives can equate to 6 months of weekly therapy. A minimum of 3 half-day sessions is recommended to experience change, 3 full-days is ideal.

If your relationship is suffering now, the cost of waiting to find healing can create insurmountable damage to your bond. Time does not heal old wounds, we must find ways through to the other side to build resilient bonds. With EFT you can find lasting change.

Absolutely! Intensives work very well to complement individual, couple or family therapy already in process.

Unfortunately, no, insurance requires very limited timeframes and mental health diagnoses to cover therapy. Relationship work is not a mental health disorder, and this approach highlights the goodness and strength in each individual. If you calculate the cost of weekly therapy over a year or two or three (the average lengths of couples therapy) intensives are significantly more affordable with faster results.

We can set up direct payment for the full session or look into payment plans.

Schedule a 15-minute complementary consultation with Heather to see if it is the right for you.

For Executives and Professionals

Many individuals, executives, and professionals choose coaching over therapy when they’re looking for direct, results-oriented support, within a focused timeframe. Coaching helps those who are facing a transition clarify goals, strengthen skills, and create actionable strategies for growth. While therapy focuses on emotional healing and understanding the “why” behind patterns, coaching turns that insight into forward-facing, empowered action leading to lasting change. Coaching with Heather Sund brings the dynamic combination of awareness of what fosters emotional and relational well-being alongside proven change and motivational strategies, creating a powerful balance of inner work and outward momentum.
