I find joy when working with individuals, families and couples. My therapeutic approach is to create a safe, empathic and authentic relationship with my clients. Areas of emphasis include self-compassion and strengths-based, client-centered strategies. I employ techniques from several theoretical backgrounds including: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have also been trained to apply Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Method couples therapy.
I began my career as an emergency medical technician, and then earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Northwest University. As an RN I worked in cardiology, oncology and intensive care units. I also served on a crisis hotline and worked with incarcerated youth and victims of sexual exploitation at a Seattle-based nonprofit. While earning a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington I served as a social work intern at the King County Department of Public Defense and then at the Mindful Therapy Group.
In my free time, I enjoy having adventures with my husband and our four children. Fun Fact: My husband and I co-created the popular “Gottman Couples Retreat Boardgame”.
